Verse of the Day
Monday 6th July
Friday 3rd July
Luke 12: 32
Every day it’s good to home in on a verse of Scripture that speaks deep within and today, 3 July, Luke 12:32 is one of those verses. It reads “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” We know God loves us but we’ll never know the extent of His love this side of heaven so He keeps plugging away at our wrong pre-conceived ideas that He wants to keep some things from us, or we’re not quite good enough, or others are more deserving. Lk 12:32 is a sentence about the nature of God. We have all the privileges of the King as His sons and daughters. I’m still learning to accept them with a grateful heart.
Thursday 2nd July
Philippians 4: 13
The verse that keeps me going is “I CAN do ALL things through Him who strengthens me”
When you get to the end of yourself, tell God and He will give you strength to get up and persevere and carry on, and let him be the strength you don’t have.
Wednesday 1st July
Exodus 17: 10-13
In Exodus chapter 17 verses 10-13 Moses prays as his people fight a battle against the Amalekites. Moses gets weary of holding up his arms in prayer so two friends, Aaron and Hur, support his arms for him. Hold on a minute, we know Aaron, that’s Moses brother, but who is this Hur? You have to jump way way ahead to 1 chronicles 2 v 19 to read that he is actually a son of Caleb. It reminded me how vital we all are, though we may not feel significant or important. We don’t know much about Hur and yet his part here is crucial. Our prayers, our care for others, our actions and words and smiles… they all matter, they are all vital and can be used by God. You never know what Jesus will be able to do with something you say or pray or offer today. I’ll leave you with a saying from Shane Claiborne – ‘Get ready because God is preparing you for something very, very… small. Because it’s small things that change the world.’
A prayer – Lord thank you for the way you love to work with us and through us, we offer you all the small moments of today, may they be a blessing to you and to others please, Amen.
